Learning Environment

Isn't Science looking good!

I believe that in order to create a purposeful learning atmosphere the learning environment needs to be clean, inviting and stimulating - with this in place appropriate behaviour by students is more likely. So many of the labs are looking good - and the students really appreciate this.

The displays in the corridors look awesome, thanks to Tracy and the other technicians - we're starting to look like a science college!

Primary School Masterclasses in the SMLC

Work with our four partner primary schools is a very special activity for us. Our aim is to enhance childrens experience of science and feedback from these schools has been very positive.

Some of the science subjects we cover are: - Gases around us, Earth Sun and Moon, Changing State, Life Cycles,Changing Sounds, Keeping Healthy, Forces, Sustainability, Rocks and the rock cycle, Habitats, Light and Microbes.

This gives children at the primary schools access to equipment and resources they would not normally have.

The video below is a selection of photos from these classes.

Welcome,

This Blog has been created for Great Barr School and everything that relates to Specialist Status for Science and Maths, whole school and our community.
By using this form of communication, it is hoped that staff, pupils and community stakeholders can add anything and everything that they feel adds to the diversity of Specialist Status.
If you feel its relevant and of interest, then please go ahead and add the details/pictures/quotes/movies etc etc.
Each term we hope to take samples from the blog and create a hard copy newsletter representing Great Barr School and Specialist Status to give to specific year groups of pupils.

So go ahead and start Blogging...........A.Williams - Director of Specialism
